Strength for This Morning

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31, KJV

A new morning is one of God’s gentle reminders that His mercies have not failed. Before the duties, decisions, and demands of the day press in, the Lord invites us to begin in His presence. We do not have to gather our own strength for what lies ahead. Heaven has already made provision for every burden, every temptation, and every need through Jesus Christ.

The promise in Isaiah is not given to those who trust in themselves, but to those who wait upon the Lord. Waiting is more than passing time—it is a posture of faith. It is the quiet surrender that says, “Lord, I need You first. Lead my thoughts, govern my words, and direct my steps.” In a hurried world, prayer slows the soul enough to remember who God is and who we are in Him.

There will be days when you feel strong and joyful, and there will be mornings when your heart is tired before the day even begins. Yet the promise remains the same: God renews. He does not merely patch up exhausted hearts; He supplies fresh grace. Through His Word, through prayer, and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, He strengthens His children to walk faithfully one step at a time.

As Seventh-day Adventist believers, we look to Christ not only as our Saviour but as our ever-present High Priest, ministering for us in the heavenly sanctuary. Because of Him, we may come boldly to God each morning. Consecration is not complicated. It is simply placing yourself again in the Lord’s hands—your plans, your family, your work, your witness, your habits, and your hidden struggles. What we surrender, He can sanctify.

Let this morning be more than the start of another routine. Let it be an altar. Open your Bible. Bow your head. Speak honestly with God. Ask Him to make your life a channel of blessing today. The one who waits upon the Lord will never wait in vain.

Bring your first thoughts to Jesus before turning to other voices.
Claim His promise of strength for today, not all at once, but for each moment.
Ask the Holy Spirit to form Christ’s character in you.
Choose to walk by faith, trusting that God is already at work.

A praying life is a growing life. The soul that meets God in the morning carries heaven’s peace into the day’s battles. Do not neglect the place of prayer, for there the weary are renewed, the distracted are refocused, and the surrendered heart is prepared to follow Jesus wherever He leads.

Dear Father, thank You for the gift of a new day and the promise of renewed strength. Teach me to wait upon You, to trust Your Word, and to yield every part of my life to Jesus. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and let my life today reflect Your grace. Amen.
